Patagonia is another big inspiration brand for Battenwear, which is probably obvious to anyone with eyeballs. We really love that when Monsieur Chouinard started the company (just an hour drive up the coast from our Topanga design studio), he did so with what we see as a very practical, can-do perspective: he wanted to make clever products to fill a need in his community. And we're no business experts or environmental hawks, but it seems to us that Patagonia is still doing a kick ass job this many years later. We collect early pieces as often as we can.
