BATTENWEAR PRESENTS FALL/WINTER 2020 COLLECTION

NEW YORK / TOPANGA (January 2020) — The Battenwear Fall/Winter 2020 collection is made for today’s tribe of global travelers. At this start of a new decade, never before in history have people been able to jump so casually between time zones and continents, coast to coast, east to west and back again. Building travel-ready components into our clothing and accessories has always been a particular pleasure for us at Battenwear—making the perfect pocket for a metro card or passport, creating items that pack up small, and finding ways to make practical, weather proof jackets look “night on the town” ready so that you only have to pack one piece of outerwear in your suitcase.

Once we opened our second office in Topanga, CA in 2017, and started commuting between NYC and LA, our focus on travel-ready gear began to sharpen even further. The FW20 Battenwear collection has many travel-ready touchpoints. Highlights include the brand-new Travel Pouch, our long-time favorite Travel Shell Parka, and pants like our Stretch Climbing and Bouldering Pants which customers tell us are ideal for navigating airports and train stations.

In our frequent travels across the country, from our old stomping grounds to our new and back, we have found that we also have become travelers through time, at least in spirit. We look back in order to plan forward, anticipating what is around the next corner while appreciating of what was around the last. This mindfulness of tradition and the history is reflected in our designs. Each item we make feels familiar to our customers because it is reminiscent of the gear they saw their parents wearing when they were children, or that they themselves wore at a younger age (or coveted from catalogs). More importantly, our designs are not simply retro-looking, but also uniquely contemporary in construction and fabrication. We never just copy old designs. We take ideas from the past, mix them together and reinterpret them, making fresh-feeling gear suited to today’s discerning city dweller.

Battenwear is pleased to present its Fall/Winter 2020 collection in anticipation of many adventures to come, and in hopes that both our hindsight and foresight will be 20/20 this decade and beyond.
