It's been a wild month for everyone, right?
We are writing to you from our backyard, isolating ourselves along with the rest of California, and much of the rest of the world. As is the case with many of you, we are actively searching out the bright spots in these challenging times.
We are hanging out with our kids, which is something we were hoping to do more of anyhow. We're taking daily walks in the spring landscapes of Topanga Canyon. We're cooking and growing and baking more of our own food. We're watching epics like Gundam, and reading long form novels as well as lots of picture books. We're probably listening to too much news radio but trying not to stress.
We know we are particularly fortunate, knock on wood, having a yard and being able to work from home. We feel lucky . . . and that makes us wish there was more that we could do to help our friends around the world. If you can think of anything, we hope you'll let us know. We really appreciate the check-ins we've gotten from customers around the world, wanting to show their support.
Of course, not being able to go to our office does not mean that the work stops--everyone is having to deal with that reality right now. We're juggling shipping, production, development, etc. So, yesterday afternoon, when a package arrived with the items Shinya and I had ordered (and had forgotten we ordered) from our SS20 collection for our personal use, it felt like time to take a break to celebrate.
SS20 is a season we've been looking forward to for a while--particularly for the tie dye and Madras items. It is a season that was really interesting to design and great to see emerge from the factories looking like so much fun to wear.
So don't mind us. It's a big box and we'll be playing dress up for the next bit. Expect some good detail photos to be added for some of our favorite items in the coming days. In isolation, our choice of models is a bit limited . . .
If YOU have your eye on some Battenwear and want to know a store near you where to find it, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope you will support the stores who carry us and independent brands like us. Our stockists are top notch, and they deserve to survive this.
And if you'd like to order direct from us, please know that our warehouse in Southern California is still shipping orders and our carriers (UPS domestic, DHL international) are still picking up and delivering things in a timely manner. Bright spots.
Be well, everyone!
