Five Pocket Island Shirt, Clay Ikat
There’s no doubt that the traditional, ultra-cool four-pocket Cuban guayabera is comfortable and convenient for easy-access storage. And the Hawaiian shirt is the height of laid back fun. The Battenwear Five-Pocket Island Shirt is the perfect marriage of the two. The fifth pocket? We added this for early morning subway rides to New York's Rockaway Beach--it's just the right size for a metro card . . . and a $5 bill so you can get your cup of coffee and a snack from the bodega before hitting the waves.
- boxy fit
- true to size
- NEW: Battenwear label on side of left waist pocket
- two chest pockets
- two waist pockets
- small fifth pocket inside the right waist pocket
- flat fell seams
- square hem with slit at side seams
- slit on sleeve hems
FABRIC: IKAT (100% Cotton)
IKAT Fabric Note: Please note that we chose this Ikat in part because of its imperfections. The way that the fabric is dyed means that some bleeding occurs (although of course we wash the fabric before sewing the garments to minimize this issue for the wearer). In addition, the surface of the fabric is not uniform--it often has bumps and ridges and runs from the way the cotton is spun and woven. We love this about the fabric, but we also wish to give a "heads up" to anyone who is not familiar with Ikat cottons, so that they are not surprised by the material's eccentricities.
