DESIGN INTERN

Description: It all starts with design. In this internship you will have the opportunity to assist the small team behind designing and developing Battenwear's products, leading up to the presentation of our SS17 collection. Learn by doing the process of concepting, sourcing, prototype-sampling, and making final samples.

Start Date / Duration: Positions are available starting September 2016 through February 2016. Duration of internship is negotiable based on intern's availability, with ideal minimum commitment of 1 month. Longer internships may be available.

Hours Per Week: The schedule for the internship is flexible, from at least one day per week to at most three days per week, depending on your availability and work requirements at the office.

Compensation: The internship is non-paying, but can be undertaken for school credit with the proper paperwork. Daily lunch stipend is provided.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with sourcing fabric and trims
- Assist with general design process from conception of ideas to final samples
- Assist with creating and updating flats, linesheets, techpacks, and with fabric/print research and design.
- Assist with sample production
- Assist design team with photoshoots and tradeshows as needed

Skills required:
- General knowledge about vintage clothing such as military and outdoor clothing
- Outdoor sports enthusiast such as surfing and climbing etc.
- Student majoring in fashion design or related field
- Interest in menswear design
- Working knowledge of Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Must be organized
- Ability to sketch proper technical flats / design sketches
- Great attitude with strong work ethic, must be okay with running around the garment district on a daily basis
- Must have an understanding of basic garment construction and sewing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Graphic or web design experience a plus

Qualifications: Must know Microsoft Office. Preference given to current students or recent graduates of fashion/design/marketing degrees. Experience with menswear preferred.

SALES INTERN

Description: Whether you dream of opening the next great multi-brand clothing boutique, spearheading sales at a wholesale-oriented company, or even just designing your own clothing brand, sales experience is a vital element in a broad range of careers in the fashion industry. In this internship you will gain experience with all elements of fashion sales, from building relationships with wholesale customers, to managing inventory in a retail store, to the nitty gritty of direct-to-customer service.

Start Date / Duration: Positions are available starting September 2016 through Febrary 2017. Duration of internship is negotiable based on intern's availability, with ideal minimum commitment of 1 month. Longer internships may be available.

Responsibilities:

Assisting in managing Battenwear's wholesale customer relations:

- Maintain wholesale customer files
- Develop prospective wholesale customer list
- Interact with wholesale customers via local store visits

Assisting in preparing Battenwear's upcoming FW17 collection for wholesale market:

- Track sample development and material/labor costs
- Assist in creating linesheets, order forms, and other sales documents
- Assist in producing seasonal photo lookbook

Assisting in managing Battenwear's online store:

- Assist in preparing Battenwear's FW16 collection for online store sales (photos, product descriptions, etc.)
- Occasionally assist in customer visits to office/showroom

PRODUCTION INTERN

Description: When it's time to turn your great idea into an actual product, real-deal production experience is truly essential. When it comes to turning design concepts into actual garments, New York City is a great place to gain that experience. At Battenwear we make the vast majority of our products within a 3-block radius of our office and showroom in NYC's garment district. An internship on our production team provides an incomparable opportunity to be involved in the full fashion cycle, from product development to production, quality control to garment allocation. We are currently seeking motivated interns to join our production team.

Start Date / Duration: Positions are available starting September 2016 through February 2017. Duration of internship is negotiable based on intern's availability, with ideal minimum commitment of 1 month. Longer internships may be available.

Responsibilities:

- Organize production samples and data entry.
- Provide administrative assistance: filing, record keeping.
- Trim Sourcing for new seasons.
- Prepare and Organize trim packages for factories located at Garment District and coordinate pick up or delivery of trim packages.
- Assisting with quality control at our local factories.
- Working close to production team with all production aspects.

Qualifications:

Detail oriented, self-motivated with CAN-DO, WILLING --TO-LEARN attitude.
Immediate availability, a minimum of 2-3 full days per week. Production major/Experienced candidate.
